When a deer jumps, it needs to be somewhat close to the fence in order to clear it. By having a shorter fence installed around the border of a taller one, you are taking away some of that area they need in order to clear the fence. Not only that, but the deer will also have a fear of ending up stuck between the two fences. While you may worry about how this looks, there are some things you can do to dress things up and make it look nice. For example, you can plant flowers along the inside of the two fences. Since deer can't get in there, you won't even have to worry about them destroying the flowers.
Put a solid covering over a chain link fence -
If you want to go with a single chain link fence or you already have one, then you can try covering it with something that makes it solid, so the deer can't see through it. You may find that this is enough for you to prevent most, if not all, or the deer from winding up in your yard.
